Be there at 9am for the Grand March

Excitement is rising as the Highland Games approaches. The heavy weight contenders will be getting fit and beefy, the highland dancers will be practicing madly as will the pipers and drummers.

The host Clan Keith will be getting their stalwarts together for the drive North to Waipu. The food vendors will be ordering in supplies and the Ballistic Blondes Sky Dive team will be trying on their wee kilts ready to drop in on all the fun of the Games.

Watch the Highland Dancing

The tug of war teams will be sprucing up for the giant pull. Tents are to be erected, climbing walls put in place, bleachers for the crowd to be set in the perfect position for viewing.

Waipu’s biggest annual carnival is not far off. Tickets can be bought at the gate but bring your picnic rugs to sit under the trees while you enjoy the spectacle in front of you.

Come to see the just which clan you are descended from. Learn your genealogy and what it is that makes you Scots.

Get the kids invloved in the mini Highland Games – how far can you toss the haggis family?

Should you wish to listen to top highland piping make sure you attend the Helen McGregor Memorial Medley on New Year’s Eve at the Coronation Hall at 7 p.m.

Wear your best tartan outfit and enter Tartan in the Park Competition – strut your stuff in the new huge Celtic Barn.

Get the bairns involved in the Mini Highland Games. They can toss a mini caber, throw a mini hammer and hurl a hairy haggis just like the big boys.

There is much to see and do so make sure you do not miss out. Be there early to see the band march in and the Salute at 9.00

Sing Flower of Scotland to the massed bands in the arena at noon. And then go to the wonderful Ceilidh that night and dance the night away to the fantastic Twisty Willow.
